Hi,

I've been recently been hired in my school's Yearbook staff as a Photo Editor and I need some basic knowledge of Photoshop

Are there any sites that are particularly good that you guys liked that will help me with the basics?

Thanks,
Raymond

Below are just a very few of the hundreds of Photoshop Tutorial sites out there. I also highly recommend joining NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals), it is well worth the price of membership JUST for the tutorials and video lessons.

Photoshop Roadmap

Photoshop Cafe

Photoshop Tutorials (Be aware - this one has adult advertising on it.)

Janee's Photoshop Tuts

//www.photowalkthrough.com/tutorial_1/index.html

I just listened to the first video on this site. It's a good quick and dirty study in layer masks. It makes it look easy.

edit: btw, the tutorial not called masking. It's the video on noise reduction and spot editing with the use of masks.

There's an entire set of videos covering the editing of one image.

Pixel Corps

By far the best on line student/teacher place of learning for not just photoshop, but anything to do with production, animation, photography, post production, and much more.

Once you become a member, you get to down load some very very high end applications that only production companies can afford, and play with.

They have all the new betas that Adobe comes out with before any one else, and all the latest and greatest patches, and plug ins.

As a member, you are part of a team, and that team is your home base for immediate answers to any question that you may have to photoshop, for instance.

I was a member there for about a year, and I learned so much about photoshop, it was amazing.

It does cost however.

But, to get the knowledge base that one is after in a short amount of time, I would recommend Pixel Corps over all contenders.

Also, look here Study Deskand here Workshop Desk for more information.

Good luck.
