My boss loves product photos like this car and would like to have that for some of HIS products, too.

I finally got PS CS3 last week, but he won't want to pay for the extended version of it (which I believe would let me do this).

Does anybody have any experience with other software, much cheaper stuff, that will make those 3D views?

Cool 360 does that. Look on ULead's sight.

How big are your boss'es products? If they're small enough, put them on a turntable and put your camera on a tripod--set it to manual everything, even focus. Use a plain white (or colored) background. Then rotate the product and shoot. Then use a stitcher program to produce a sort of reverse panorama.

Thanks for the input so far.

Is there a term for each of these options (since the searches bring up both) :

A) the panaroma that looks like you're standing in the middle, turning yourself to look around and

B) the 3D pic where the viewer stands still and the object moves (that is the one I need)

I wish they had samples to look at.... it reads to me as if it makes only type A - the panorama.

Too expensive :-(

That is exactly what I'm asking for - if anyone knows a good, cheap program to do this. Reverse panorama? Is that what it is called?
By the way, the products vary - it is a large hardware store, so they sell anything from tiny screws to huge ladders. I'm not yet sure just exactly which products he would want this for.

The type you want is not so much "put together" as it is simply swapping image frames when dragging the mouse.

I assume you want it on a website. This could be done is JavaScript or Flash. Given the images, performing the effect would be very easy. Building a system for users to implement these on their website would be a bit harder... I hope you find something out there!

Cheers,

i do a lot of this work..thats done with a "panoramic exporter" intergrated with the most of 3d programs like "3d studio max"..this car is a 3d car not a real one & all you need is a camera but not a real camera " cg camera",you can also do it from pictures but then you will have problems with reflection

I think you can use a regular panorama stitcher, and put control points on the object on the turntable.

I use Autopano Pro, but if that costs too much, Hugin is a good, free stitcher (it has a much higer learning curve.

For large objects, you'd have to walk around the object. The trick would be keeping your distance about the same for each shot.

Jeff, you make it sound so easy :-)
Edward, if that car isn't even real, what hope would I have to produce something good looking with my homemade light tent and all the other restrictions :-(
Hank, both those programs talk about panoramas, but neither seem to mention the 3D object that I am looking for.

Again...... thanks for the replies.
