Hi,
Trying to attach a pic for a challenge and my pics are too large, from what I can tell. I've tried to resize them several times but am LOST. Have a Dimage Z1 - clearly new - an no clues.

Also, anyone else with this type of camera, I'd love to hear how you like it and any tips...

Thanks, Mary

What editing software do you use, and what computer OS?

File Format: JPEG (.jpg)
File Size: No larger than 150 kb.
Dimension: No dimension may be shorter than 160 pixels or longer than 640 pixels.
Exposure Date: Your photograph must be taken within the submission dates for the challenge unless otherwise specified in the 'extra rules' section of the challenge.

hope this helps

Hi,
I've tried this too many times.... keeps saying my photo isn't the right size.
I shrunk it down to 900 x 600 and it's still too big.

The software came with the camera, Dimage Viewer. However, it seems to be saving it in my old camera's software also, the Kodak Easy Share.

OS = Operating System???
If so I'm on an HP Pavilion - standard with XP

I see the file size on the requirements, just don't know how to "get there"....

Thanks in advance.

Well your problem is shrinking it down to 900x600! The size requirements state that the longest side can be a maximum of 640!

Simply resize the side that is currently 900, down to 640 and it should be all good!

Maximum size along any length is 640 pixels.

So, resize down to 640 x 427. When saving, adjust jpeg compression so that the file size is less than 150Kb. Once done, try again, it should be fine.

IT WORKED....

Thanks...

Couldn't find ISO on properties though, listed it as auto, but I found the rest of the info.

Your largest resolution can be no larger than 640. So 900x600 has 900 as its largest, therefore you need to change the 900 to anything 640 (preferred) or below (assuming you keep you aspect ratio). Good luck though.

I had actually cropped it but it stayed the same size????

I'm leaving it... good enough for a first try.

Thanks :)

Yes, you need to re-size/resample to get the longest side down to 640 pixels. Without being familiar with your editing software, it's hard to tell you where to find it though ... look for something like "Image Size" in the menus.

You can download a free program called IrfanView which has a resample command with some preset sizes. There are several other free or inexpensive editors which will let you do more than resize the image.

If you (or anyone) really want "hands-on" help, download and install the demo version of a program called Timbuktu and send me an email; it will let me see your screen and maintain a chat window ...
