Ive been looking for a camera for a while now and Ive come up with a lot of different conclusions. Well now I think Im down to 2. The Sony H9 or the Canon S5. I like the wider lens on the Sony for landscape photos, which is what I will be doing most of. I know you can buy a wide lens adapt. for the Canon and its faster. Will the Shots come out as good with that adapter? Has anyone used both cameras yet. Ive read all the reviews on them both. Canon seems to be a favored brand. Any thoughts out there. I just need a little push towards one to make the purchase.
Thanks

Or if there are any other camers out there similar to these. I cant afford a dslr right now but want the closest thing with the best pic quality.
Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks again

Canon G7.

It's more compact than the other 2 and it has a hotshoe.

That was one of my first choices, but I thought these had a better pic quality from reviews and more versatile lens.

would it be worth the xtra $100-$200 for a dslr kit like the Canon 350d, 400d or the Nikon d40, d40x? Thats pushing my budget and I dont realy want to end up down the road with a backpack full of lenses. Could I get away with 2 lenses at most with those cams? One for closeups and one for telephoto landscapes?

I have the G7, I have no issues with image quality.

I'm sure both of the other cameras are fine. I looked at them, but two things stood out as deal-killers; they're much larger/heavier than the G7 and neither one allows for an external flash. If the bulk of the S5 or the Sony aren't an issue, then you might as well get a DSLR with a good zoom.

You could get away with one lens and a set of extension tubes on a DSLR to cover most of your shooting, as you've described.

Would the lens kit that comes with some of those DSLR cams be just as good if not better than the G7's.
Yes, the S5 does have a hot shoe.
