Perhaps a silly question. What is the ratio for a panorama shot? AND...is it possible to shoot in raw, the crop the picture in a manner to get that same ratio and then label it as 'panorama'...or is there an element missing from that?

There is really no set ratio for panorama shots. Something like 12 x 6 or 10 x 4 would be considered panorama.

If you crop a picture to this type of ratio then you could label it as a panorama even though it wasn't like that in the original.

I did this view of the Dallas skyline by cropping it out of a much larger photo. I don't remember setting any particular proportion, just selected till it looked right.

usually a 2:1 ratio is minimum to really call it panoramic.

Cropping is okay, but limits your print size. better to shoot several shots at the same EV lock and photomerge them.
