I just wanted to share my thoughts on the new printer.

My wife and I bought an early Christmas present!

She had some photos she wanted to print out to create gifts for some of our family members (I got lucky) :) and the Canon BJC 6000 was on it's last legs so to speak for printing anything you could call a photograph.

But anyhow this new Canon printer is real nice for home use!

We looked at and tested all the other models in the store and online and decided to stay with the Canon model. The Pro Camera shop where we go also recomended it highly they sell the Canon 9100 (Large Format). But I could not talk her into the model 9100 :)

Some features are:

USB 2.0
USB 2.0 "PictBidge" port (Direct from your camera)
Built-in "Card Direct" Memory card slot and handles most memory cards.
Built-in 2" LCD panel for menu and photo viewing.
6 individual ink tanks.
Borderless printing.
Prints 8x12 and etc.

It has an attachment for 4x6 photo paper that mounts onto the printer and can remain there. When you want print 4x6 photos all you have to do is turn the large knob. We found some very nice prices on the 4x6 glossy photo paper in the 100 sheet packs. Got the Epson 100 pack for $14.00. And I know where to get the ink for a far better price than the $12.00 a tank that most stores want.

When viewing the photos on the camera or memory card you can bring the photo viewer up on your monitor also for better viewing.

So far the quality we have gotten with this printer has been excellent. We on our second set of ink tanks already and we created some very nice Christmas gifts. I beleive all together we have probably printed about 50 8x10's on matte and high gloss photo paper plus numerous smaller photos.

Not a bad deal when you consider the nice rebates they are offering ($50-$150 if you have purchased a Canon camera within the last 8 weeks).

P.S.

I should add this printer is designed more for printing photographs only. The black ink tank is to small for everyday use unless you buy the lower cost black ink tanks for $5.99 at ink4art.com or etc.

Just my 2 cents worth a new printer.

i will be getting an s9000 for christmas. i think it is about $50 less than yours. for less money i get to print on larger paper, but you get a higher resolution. i think 2400X1200 should be good enough for me, but i guess i'll find out soon enough.

what kind of paper have you been using in your printer?

Real nice.
But we opted for the memory card and USB camera connections.
I don't have much use for the large format at this time.

I use the Canon matte/glossy and I also use the Epson glossy photo paper. I have had nice results with both.
