As to the second question. It's possible but not as easy as with other cameras.
You'll need an IR filter like the Hoya R72. You'll need a lens that doesn't have problems with bright spots (50mm 1.8 is a good choice). You won't be able to auto focus with the filter on so you'll need to focus and then put the filter on to take the photo. Visible light doesn't focus to the same spot as IR but using a tighter aperture on a landscape scene is a suitable fudge or you can us the IR markings on the lens if your lens has them. Exposure times will be long so you'll need a bright day and a very steady tripod and a remote and shutter lock-up will help.
If you had another camera you could also convert that to shoot IR only for a few hundred dollars. Going this route you'd be able to use normal shutter speeds, auto focus, and see your scene through the view finder. |

There is a way to simulate “infrared feel” in CS-2 using channel mixer adjustment layer.
You need to switch to monochrome, move green channel all the way to the right 200%, than using red and blue sliders adjust to 100% total. It doesn’t always work, depends on the image but it worth it to try; if everything what I just sad make sense.

I saw a plug-in action for photoshop once for infrared but don't remember it working very well.
Not sure how well you can do infrared with your camera but I sure hope it is better than mine lol. The main problem with mine is that you get best results by setting the wb off of any grass in your scene (I'm sure the trees work the same way) but my camera will not set a wb to that extreme. So I get the typical totally red image that is very hard to work with. Just messing around with no real subject this is the best attempt I got
As far as post processing once you do get that infrared photo taken, check out judi's tutorial here.
just remembered I had a thread saved with photoshop plugin links...might wanna try here
