Hello -
I have a big trip to Europe in a couple days (Paris, London, Prague, Krakow). I've been excited about it for some time and hoping to get lots of good shots, but I was disappointed to check the 10-day forecast and see rain, rain, clouds and more rain. This can obviously change at any moment, but does anyone have a suggestion of how to make the best of this situation?
Thanks, Matt

Well, for starters, there's nothing wrong with clouds... They can make for dramatic shots, to be sure. As far as protecting your gear be sure your gear bag is waterproof (like the Lowe AW's) and/or look into getting something like this.

If you want to spend the money get a AquaTech Sport Shield for your camera otherwise plastic bags, shower caps, and the like can be fashioned as disposable rain protection.

You can get some good non-directional lighting with an overcast sky.

If its raining too hard, shoot indoors. You may want to pick up a fast lens (e.g. 50mm f/1.8) if you don't have one.

Oh yes, welcome to Europe! ;)

Do not get dissapointed bad weather will force you to look harder for detail and pay more attention to composition. You will have great B&W pictures at the very least. Look for the good light after some raining you will see how different colors look on that conditions.

A tip I read once was "to get closer" pay more attention to small details, look for nice reflections in puddles, etc.

Take good care of your gear!
