Here's a couple of shots of a recent baby shoot I did. Is there something I could/should have done differently?
Setup: Single Studio Flash, with umbrella off a little to my right, reflector to the left of the child.
Is there anything that would make these better? |

I like the shot. I purchased a bucket like that to do the same type of shot. On E-bay you can get large plastic bubble that would look so cute. I will try and find the link for you.
I think you did a wonderful job.

I think they're great. Cute kid, nice color. Maybe fill that shadow a little more or lower the umbrella a tetch so it doesn't fall on his shoulder? And the composition might be a little bottom heavy; don't know how much you can crop without having it look weird though...
But I don't actually know what I'm talking about. I had to think about what a critique would be, so they must be pretty good. ;) |

Here is the link to the bubbles. The shipping is a bit high. I think someone would be able to figure out how to make them.

Nice Images Bob, I ike the 2nd one a little better as its more Natural.
I ve just bought myself a 3rd Elinchrom Digital light which will alow me to be a bit more creative with my Lighting.
I may have cast a wee bit of a Shadow across part of your backdrop, but its your photo mate and its allabout opinions.
A Bonnie Bairn though !

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.
BTW, I did give adding a bit of blur to the blue, it didn't look right. Maybe I just need to play around with softening that a little more. |

I think a vignetting filter would really add to this. I don't know what they are called in PS (I use PSP), but I normally just do it by hand with either a burning or a darkening layer, and manually spray the outside of the frame darker. That will help to shift the focus away from the props and more toward the baby.

I took one of the previous photos and added a border effect in order to minimize the impact of some of the props and put a little more focus onto the subject.
Additional comments would be appreciated. |
