What is with everyone and their interpretation of this? Some DPC'rs have been REALLY sh*tty in their comments. Why is everyone so angry?

I've seen it with mine too.

My has been WAY mis-read... I'm not sure if I'm too deep or they're to shallow...

Oh well...

I think it is that people are voting by their beliefs rather than voting on the merits of the photograph

This is sad because there are some fine photos in this challenge

I was amazed by how many entries missed the point of "propaganda". Pretty pictures aren't by themselves propaganda. Advertising isn't propaganda. I gave a whole lot of low scores because they didn't fit the challenge, although I upgraded them somewhat if they at least had done a good job with whatever they were trying to do.

That's a good point man, better than your signature.

I think, in fact, that ignorance brings innocence while certain types of partial knowledge (maybe artificially created by propaganda) definitely create violence.

But to assimilate "partial knowledge" with ignorance would be a mistake.

After all, we do not know anything about ignorance.

I was amazed at how many voters don't know what propaganda is, and have such a narrow view and started throwing out 1's because they didn't understand the challenge.

Actually one definition of propaganda is information that is spread for the purpose of promoting something.

And based on that definition pretty pictures and advertising both can be construed as a form of propaganda.

Another defintion is from the Roman Catholic religion:A congregation of cardinals, established in 1622, charged with the management of missions

However if there had been a photo of a group of Cardinals, I am sure that most everyone would have given it a 1 for not meeting the challenge as well

I am sorry.. but you got it real wrong about propaganda, even mentioning the actual origin of the term.

The term originates from the "Congregation of the Propaganda", a committee of cardinals responsible for FOREIGN missions, founded by Pope Gregory XV in 1622.

Basically.. these guys were responsible for propagating (same latin root of the word, but still a term existing in English) the Christian religion in countries/locations where the Religion was not known...

Advertising sells products. Now.. Propaganda and Advertising being the same would mean that Religion is a product.

Wow.. I am not sure that you are wrong anymore....

However, my pic should have won the blue ribbon just because of its meaning.. what a pity that (nearly) nobody got it.
:P
