I want to try and make some of my pictures look like pictures from comic books/graphic novels. I have no idea how to go about it, i've tried a few things on photoshop but can't seem to get anything even remotley close. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Probably not quite what you're looking for, but I was messing around in photoshop one night and came up with this using a mixture of the Cut-out and Poster Edges filters. I'm sure there's probably an action out there somewhere that might do what you're talking about. Might try a google search of Comic Book photoshop action or something like that.

Try "Posterize" under color adjustments, and set it to 3-8 colors. Using the "Find Edges" filter can be a way to create illustration-like accents. |

That one is kind of like what i want to do, not quite but a lot closer than i managed to get. What i want to do may not even be possible.

I think if i did this then added some hard line edges and my own shading i could get close to this sort of thing,

Lucis Art is a good place to start, it give you the basis of something to start with.
You could also use the Dragoniser Filter which again give you a slightly different effect, but can be tweaked as you go along.
It is not beyond the realm of possibility to create it from scratch, but it is going to take you some time to experiment. |
