Hi all,
I recently posted a request for help here re: the K10D vs the K100D and I ended buying the K10D. However, Is it just me or does the K100D have better lowlight shooting than the K10D. I had the K100D for a day or so and now have the K10D, but I find that when I shoot for lowlight, the K100D was better. I shot a dimly lit room with the K10D at ISO 200/30secs/f32 and it came out still a little on the dark side wheras when I had the K100D I could shoot at the same settings and the pic would come out much brighter. If I have the same settings shouldn't the pics be the same on both cameras? Should I return the K10D and get the K100D since that worked for me before? Thanks!

Do you mean that the exposure was wrong, or that there was too much noise?
Theoretically, a sensor with fewer pixels will allow each pixel to gather more light, and thus will have less noise since "gain" isn't cranked up.
I have read that the K100 may be less noisy than the K10D, but I have no personal experience to share.
If you can compensate for the exposure though, it seems to me the K10D is a better camera overall. |

I mean when I set the same settings on both cameras ISO 200 / f22 / 30 secs, I get different results. With the K100D I get a beautiful shot in low lighting. With the K10D I get a blurrier and darker shot with more noise.

I think that nshapiro is on the right track.. The problem is probably a result of cramming 4 more megapixels onto the same size sensor. I don't have a K100D to test.. but I think I'll do a test with my DS and the K10D and see what happens.
Also.. just for the record.. what on *EARTH* are you shooting that you need to have the shutter open for 30 seconds at f22?
