Hi everybody, i'm new here. I had a quick ? about the basic editing rules.
These lines in particular:
You may saturate, desaturate or change the colors of your entry, but no selections are allowed.
You may use only Adjustment Layers:
You may not use the marquee, lasso, or similar tool to select a portion of your image for any reason other than cropping or creating a border.
I have a pic where I desaturated most of an image and adjusted curves with an adjustment layer. Is any or all of this allowed? I'm still brand new here.
Thanks alot!

Adjusting curves with an adjustment layer (or directly for that matter) is fine, as long as it is done on the entire image and not a masked section or a selection.
As for desaturating most of the image, are you saying that you mostly desaturated (most colour gone) or that you desaturated most of the image but not part of it? In other words, what do you mean by "desaturated most of an image"?

"that you desaturated most of the image but not part of it?
That one. From what I gather from you post, I'm assuming that is not allowed. Correct? |

Well, there are legit ways to do what you say you did in basic editing. How did you go about desaturating most of the image but not part of it?

Sometimes it is better to submit a ticket to SC with your original and entry to get their opinion before the challenge.

You are not allowed to alter an adjustment mask in BASIC!

Glad to be of help.
Using a mask is really the same thing as using a selection, so that would not be legal in basic editing.
Judi is right, if you have a specific question you can submit a ticket and ask for an opinion from SC before the challenge.
