OK I just got a wonderful 300-d and have had a g-2 for some time, and never had this pressing need to retain my exif information, but I came here, and found out about exif, and what it was and such, and when I batch process to generate thumbnails in wondows explorer, mainly with tifs, I lose the exif tag, I find it both laughable and rediculous to have to retain both raw images and tiffs at huge file sizes of 18MB for my eos 300d, so what I need is some solution to be able to browse my images with thumbnails, besides within photoshops browser, I need windows explorer in windows 2000 to somehow generate thumbnails for me while retaining all exif information for the rule on contests at this site, this is immensely frustrating and I do not desire to step up to XP yet, there is no reason really except this one right here, please someone help me out here LOL is there any way of getting tif thumbnails without losing my exif info???? |

I run Win2k on my laptop, and don't have the option to go to XP. I use a freeware image browser to do the job, since Photoshop's browser is so darn slow. The one I use is Exif, which is free and available here. It also shows the Exif info on mousover of each thumb.
I'm hoping that PS 8's browser is as much improved as they are touting it to be.

There's nothing that says you need to retain that information indefinitely... you could always save the current challenge photos for a week or so after the results are posted, and zap 'em after that...

I have XP, but for some reason since I installed Photoshop 7 I can no longer see EXIF data in file properties.
I use a program called "Exifer" that lets me browse thumbnails. It seems to be able to read EXIF data from images that have been saved and re-saved, not just camera originals. It's very useful.
It's also free.
