Lens Pen, microfiber cloth for lens cleaning, small bag, battery charger...lots of things under $20 that would be useful. |

Joby gorilla pod is a tiny bit over at $21.00 or so. Very useful. Collapsable reflectors are about $21.00 also.

how about those filters that let you have long exposure in bright light? how much are those? (and what are they called?) |

Grads and polarizers always work for me. |

You may be looking for neutral density filters, which will allow for longer exposures in bright light, or any light for that matter. The don't change the color, they just block some of the light. They are not as expensive as polarizers, but not as useful either. If you go for a polarizer, be sure to get a "circular polarizer" as some of the older ones will cause problems with digital cameras.

So it would be better to get
Polarizer
rather than
Neutral Density

One of the best investments I've made this year for under $20:
a strong VB3 Pelican LED light for inside my backpack. //tinyurl.com/yzsfqc
Other ideas:
- Op/Tech Neoprene "weight reducing" neckstrap.
- CF card cases
- lint-free lens cloth
- Giottos Rocket-Air Blaster //tinyurl.com/ymxt3d

Great asset to steady a camera, easy to toss in a camera bag and available in 3 sizes, ranging in price from $14 - 20
