Greetings Everyone,
Kelbelle here, DPC Addict and Proud of It... I have been DPC surfing for 3 straight hours this morning and I just want to say Holy Crap & Thank You to all of you for the Amazing Eye Candy that I just can't get enough of. I don't care that my legs are stiff and my eyes are buggin' out of their sockets. To me, this is never wasted time, like so much other web surfing is. I'm sitting here having my tea and feeling lovey towards y'all so I thought I'd write a little letter.
I'm nervous and excited because I'm about to get my 'real' camera as I call it (the Canon 350D), possibly this weekend. I've only been taking digital photographs for one year, with the starter camera (C310 Easy Share) that was given to me for Christmas by my sister-in-law, who is a professional photographer in Seattle. I never thought I'd get into digital photography from 35mm but she gave me that camera and I've been on (for lack of a better description) a 'shooting rampage' ever since... going digital rocked my world, especially since I'm an instant gratification kinda girl. (I just hope I have the patience to learn Photoshop, which she also gave me recently, and not want to hurl my computer out the window. Gulp.)
So, anyway, I thought I'd kinda introduce myself and let you all know that I'm so joyful that I've found a community here that is supportive, diverse, appreciative, honest (sometimes a little too brutally but I'm not afraid yes i am no i'm not yes i am), fun, talented and most of all Ridiculously Creative. Some of the stuff you guys do to get shots is insane but I love it and thanks for sharing your art with the world.
All of you-- pros, amatueurs, beginners-- are an inspiration, and a big help to me as I embark on my journey into the world of Digital SLR. Even the low scorers and brown ribbon winners--I thank you too-- because every comment left on your photos helps me learn something, and for that I know I'm not the only grateful one.

Welcome Kelly! What a great little note. :-) Already and addict and you don't even have your camera yet, there's no hope for you. :-) You are forever going to be a prisoner of the DPC system.
Can't wait to see some of your work. And congrats on the new camera!

Hi Kelly and welcome to DPC. You'll hate yourself for your new addiction, but just make the best of it!
I see you're in Portland, OR. My daughter and son-in-law live there. Actually recently moved to Gladstone, but thats pretty much Portland, isn't it? My wife and I will be out there for a couple of days at the end of the month. What a beautiful place.
Hope you enjoy your stay on DPC!

it's a good group here, i think you'll enjoy it. i know you'll enjoy it. i made the switch from film to digital last year (hard to believe it was only 18 months ago) and haven't looked back.

Hey Kelbelle, welcome! Once you start entering your pictures in the contests, you will quickly realize just how viciously addictive that "update" button can be!!
The only cure for DPC fever is more DPC. So get out there, and take pictures like you mean it :D |

Hey Kelly Welcome to the insanity. I grew up in Portland (Gresham) area and I'm just finishing up a career in the Navy and will be coming home in the middle of March. It seems there are quite a few of the DPC gang there in the Pacific Northwest.

| Thanks, you guys. I got my camera today (yippee!!!!) and took 122 shots straight outta the box, ran down the battery and now it's charging. Oh my gosh I love this camera. Now, if you'll pardon me, I have to go and learn how to use it. Portland peeps, let's go on a shooting spree! |
