Ive been trying to learn exactly how to create an HDR image. I understand the concept but im still confused about the actual steps. Any suggestions? Perhaps good reference websites?

And another thing: when i try to open my RAW image files into photoshop, it gives me an error mesage and will not allow me to open them. I tried opening them with adobe bridge as well but that failed too.

Only CS2 will open the D50 files. Is that what you're using? If yes, then download the RAW update if you haven't already.

There are many more-or-less current threads on HDR right now; use the forum search feature to search thread titles that contain "HDR" in them. Once you've read up on that stuff, if you still have questions then...

You have CS2 and the update both and it's not letting you open RAW images?
What does the error say?

I have a Nikon D50 also...love the camera! I had the same problem when I tried to open my RAW images in Photoshop. I found that there are two ways to fix this. The problem is that Nikon's NEF RAW file format wasn't supported by Photoshop. There is a plug-in for Photoshop that will solve this problem for you, but right now I can't find it. I know that I have it on my home computer, but am currently at work.

The second method is to go to the Adobe web site //www.adobe.com and download the DNG Converter software. It's free. You can use it to convert your NEF files to DNG files, which is a universal RAW file format. I currently convert all of my files, and this works very well. Here is the link for the download...good luck!

I haven't updated CS to CS2 yet, and CS will not open my D200 files. If you download Adobe's free DNG converter it will allow you to convert NEFs to DNGs that can then be opened in CS. It sounds like a pain, but it is so effortless that I'm going to wait till the next version of PS before upgrading (especially since I have an Intel Mac).
