This comment is not telling you whats wrong with the picture I just think its rude

Since this was MY comment, I'd have to disagree, naturally. Let me help you understand... and any other numerically challenged individuals understand: 0 out of 3 for challenge means I couldn't see any connection whatsoever between the photo and the challenge, even after looking at the title. The 1/3 technical means I saw at least 2 technical flaws, or maybe one BIG technical flaw. Sorry I didn't take the time to list what it/they were, but I was CAREFULLY analyzing EVERY PICTURE... not the typical 1 second glance and click vote so popular with many others ... some who want to be able to do this with only the thumbnail. The 0 out of 3 points for aesthetics is just a 'how much I like' the photo kind of comment. I know I broke this all down in another forum discussion.

My comment may be terse, but it does mean I actually took the time to carefully consider each and every photo and took the time to look at it from 3 different perspectives. I didn't vote in the dark and hide -- I hung my vote right out there, with my ID so the author could e-mail me and complain/compliment/make their case.

I think it rude for someone to click 2 without any justification whatsoever.

But hey, that's my opinion :)

Good. Go ahead and DON'T mark them as helpful. For you it is a reasonable response. For me, I'd rather serve the masses than the few, and most people like the system, so I'll continue to rate accordingly. Feel free to continue to rant accordingly.

Ouch.. that last sarcastic remark was really uncalled for... feel free to ignore it, much like you do my comments. :)

I tried a similar approach to voting, but decided to abandon it because it seemed to limit voting possibilities for certain types of photos. Photojounalism and/or street style photogaphy is not usually as refined, from a technical perspective, as studio work. With this type of photography there is usually one chance at a shot and the focus, depth of field, exposure, may be less than ideal. The overall impact of the photograph may outweigh the technical deficiencies, but it may not achieve a high ranking because the "technical" portion of score will be limited.

I do like the idea of giving more explanation for a score, but decided to vote on impact and then comment as time allows.
