The upcoming Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F848 will employ a groundbreaking 8-megapixel CCD with an entirely new color system: red, green, blue, and emerald, instead of the traditional RGB CCD. Sony will pack this pro-level camera with a host of features, including a Carl Zeiss 28- to 280-mm lens, a new image processor, dual memory card slots (for Memory Stick as well as CompactFlash and MicroDrive media), five-area multipoint auto-focus, NightShot infrared shooting, and 640-by-480 video recording at 30 frames per second.

Yes indeed. I'm getting one when it comes out. I think I have to wait until January :(

sweet! this camera is definitely more aesthetically pleasing than the current 717...

can't wait to see how that new RGBE system of CCD works out.

It's a nice looking camera, but after seeing some shots from a prototype, I was surprised they weren't any better than I've seen with the 717 model. I think for that amount of $$$ ($1300 I think?) I'd get a DSLR.

yeah for that price, i'd definitely get a dslr. another 100 bux and you have a 10d. you can get d100 for less than that at some places... and the rebel digital at only 999, there's no way i'd buy the non SLR
