How the heck do you delete this eMachines link?:

It's not in the c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\ or the owner\start menu\ or any of the other menus relating to the start menu. It does not drag and drop off of there into the recycle bin or any other location. You can drag and drop it, but it just creates a shortcut to it. The only menu that pops up when you right click it says "eMachines Features." I clicked it once and it stood there for like 10 minutes locking up my computer. I'm thinking it doesn't do anything because I basically deleted all the stuff that came with it.

There is nothing in my Startup folder. There is nothing in my win.ini under load or run, nothing starting in my system.ini, nothing in boot.ini, nothing in MSCONFIG, and only wanted anti-virus stuff in my registry's run, run once, and run once ex values.

Years ago, I bought an emachines computer and I went to their customer support and asked for detailed instructions to get rid of all their preloaded crap (banners, ads, etc) and they gave them to me. I never bought another (and won't for that reason). Anyway, it's worth a shot.

download some kind of antispyware program. spybot search and destroy, or adaware.

also try doing a google search for 'e machine removal'

yeah...it's gotta be something stupid easy. I even searched my entire registry for "emachines" and changed every one I found, and restarted...still there, and still says emachines features.

This might be worth a try

Removing the OEM Link
If you don't plan to use these shortcuts and want to hide the OEM Link from the Start Menu:

Right-click the New Start Menu and choose Properties
Click Start Menu tab, Customize, Advanced tab
In the Start Menu items list, uncheck Manufacturer Link
Click OK, and OK
The OEM Link should no longer appear in the New Start Menu. In case, the above option Manufacturer Link is unavailable in the list, you may need to edit the registry and enable the option to show in the dialog.

Open Registry Editor and navigate to this location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software\ Microsoft \ Windows\ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ StartMenu \ StartPanel \ ShowOEMLink

In the right-pane, set NoOEMLinkInstalled Value to 0
Close Registry Editor and restart Windows.
The Manufacturer Link entry should now appear in the 'Start Menu Items' dialog. Uncheck it. This hides the OEM Link from Start Menu. If you wish to remove the registry reference to the OEM Link completely [Optional], you will need to delete the following key in the Registry:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ CLSID \ {2559a1f6-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}

-and-

Set NoOEMLinkInstalled value to 1 in the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Start Menu \ StartPanel \ ShowOEMLink

my computer has the dell logo in the same spot. It shows up in the add/remove programs list under the control panel. I'm pretty sure that it would remove that link, and it might work for your computer too.
