I just bought a Phoenix 59C macro flash and I can't get it to fire. It test fires and the little flash symbol shows up in my LCD.
Is there a setting on the camera I need to use?
Has anyone used one of these with an XT?
I would really appreicate any help.
Thanks,
Solly

As far as I know it shoudl fire - i used 'dumb' (non-eTTL) hot shoe flashes and adapters on my 300D quite a few times.
What's your shutter speed? You'll need to keep it below 1/200 and shoot manual, P, or Av mode. Auto probably won't work. Manual is the best option.
Since the flash isn't eTTL you'll have to adjust the distance to the subject and/or aperture for the proper expsusure. The flash should have a GN (guide number rating) and it should have come with a chart for distance and aperture, or you can google one. |
