My 70-300 IS had the soft focus issue at 300mm in portrait and I returned the lens to my retailer to have it fixed/replaced.
It took three weeks to get the lens back.
I sent it in it's original box. The box was in MINT CONDITION. I keep all my boxes that way, together with my manuals packing material etc...
Got it back yesterday. The lens is ok, but the box apparently took a side trip to IRAQ where it got caught in a crossfire after being dumped from a plane at sixty thousand feet. Highly pissed off.
The buggers also swapped my lens manual with a different model.
What happens to stuff that we send in to be repaired on the way there and back?
Never mind... I don't wanna know.
