Didn't enter but wondering how this would've done in the challenge? |

I had one almost exactly the same as somebody else in the challenge, but didn't enter it...
I went back and forth between the leaf and the feather, and ended up submitting the feather..

Unfortunately, by the time I finished shooting for Zen I had only 15 minutes to process and upload. I wish I'd had the extra time, because when I came back to the smoke shots I realized I had overlooked this:

I do like the second one better, although the slight off-centered-ness of it is kind of like nails-on-a-chalkboard in the back of my mind. It's very close, but not quite. I'd have given a little more height to the camera to get a touch of down-angle on the candle. |

I also like the one you entered better... they are both awesome, but the one you entered looks like it was harder to produce |

No processing:
I do have an outtake, but it's a bit too close to my Action Shot (of all things), so I won't post it until later. |

this would've been a really good one for the gold challenge |

I guess I just love to look at Zen photography, but I don't know where to find & how to shoot it ;-) |

No outtakes. Just the original -
With 90/328, one thing I know for sure - I suck at Zen (photography)!

I guess people shots where not very well received... Anyways, someone said if the ball had a hint of shape it would have been better and I had thought about that, is the outtake better than the entry?

I still find the original entry to be better. But that might be due to zen's association with "circle" (coming full circle). And also the outtakes gives the feeling of "holding on to something", which (IMO) is not true to spirit of zen. Also the lighting is better with the full circle one as no light is getting blocked by hands.
Its a great photo and is already in my favs.
