Uh-oh, I'm fearing what's to come.

that's exactly the point i'm getting at, hence maybe the need for more specificness (specificity?) : )

I really think there is a discernable tie-in in 99% of advertising photographs. If you think you're going to completely miss that, maybe you should e-mail us with your idea first.

You should be able to convince your fellow photographer's you meant to do what you did -- and then convince them you did it well :)

Speaking of that sort of thing - if I do pull off the picture I want to submit, I can almost guarantee that people will think it is faked. So should I prempt this and send you proof prior to submitting ? :)

Actually the way the challenge is worded, the product should be in the photograph. "Your job is to photograph a product and have it appeal to your audience: the users of DPChallenge"

thanks for pointing that out, BA. So, I guess I'm just hung up on semantics then. For all intents and purposes, this seems more like a 'product shot' than an 'ad' per se. doncha think?

My point was that the photo should contain a product but it's relevance to anything else in the photo really doesn't (or shouldn't?) matter.

Makes sense to me...
