I have posted a few pictures online and was wondering if any of them would be worthy for local competition. Here are the two links -- one for black and whites and one for various flowers/cityscapes/landscapes, etc. Feel free to leave comments here.

The categories for the local comp are:
B/W -- People, landscapes, cityscapes, botanical, animals, abstract
Color -- Same as B/W
Collage -- more than 4 pictures

Black & Whites

Various flowers, cityscapes, animals, etc.

I like tracks b-w, the sunset shots and the lighthouse

The Lighthouse shot, I feel is your strongest piece by far. Although that particular shot could have some work done in photoshop, it is really well done.

I like the tracks picture the best in the B&W section. It depends what competition you are talking about. National Geographic? No. A local comp? Perhaps. The other two shots on the B&W page would likely get lost in a crowd.

The lighthouse is definately the best. The horizon leans a little- it would be good to straighten that out if you can. Tracks is interesting, but seems to need a little more to me. I am not sure if that would involve lightening it so the trees look more mysterious or increasing contrast so they show up a little more. Experiment and see what you like best. The composition is good. Your spring blossoms is nice and I would suggest lightening it a bit so that the flowers look a bit whiter. It is hard to predict what judges will like so go with what you think is your strongest pictures. I entered the County Fair in July and two of my favorites were not even accepted and of those in, I got honorable mentions on what I thought were the worst pictures. Do you think they would stand out among a group of other photos? I try to send in a few different ones to cover my possiblilties of what they will go for. The gator shot is interesting.

I love the B&W tracks photo. I think it would do well in competition

I love lighthouses, I plan vacations around them, but Portland Head has been done to death. When I was there two years ago, I went rock climbing just to find different angles. Even that produced the same shots you see everywhere. Nothing against you or your shot, it's just that so many people visit and photograph it, it's hard to be original. Like the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore. There are just so many angles.

I like the "Baltimore in the Rain". I like you you "saved" what would have been an otherwise drab photo.

I guess determining whether they are "competition worthy" depends on what type of compettition it is and what the categories are.

EDIT - Oh, and the Atlantic City Beach shot. I like that, too.

I just reposted the B/W tracks after some editting and added another one in each folder (Amish buggy with balloon). I tried some photoshopping to see what I could come up with. Are these any better?
