I am having a lot of trouble getting three photos into one canvas. Here is an example of what I am trying to do.
Can anyone tell me where I can find a tutorial to do this? I am brain dead when it comes to Photoshop.

for something like that i would copy and paste each part into the canvas as new layers. However if you are doing it for a challenge that would most likely get your DQ'd

Here's a quick explanation... hopefully this will get you going.
Open the photo you want in the center. Change the forground paint color (the top one of the two square swatches at the bottom of the tools palette) to the color you want as a background or border color. Now right-click the image title bar, then select Canvas Size. Increase the width to somewhat more than three times what it is, and leave the height alone. Click OK. The image width should be increased, with the image remaining centered. The color of the expanded area is the selected "foreground" paint color by default.
Now open the other two photos, and click/drag them over to the first one. Each one should appear as a new layer. Once you've dragged each image over, select one of the layers, choose the move tool and position it as you'd like.
that should be all there is to it!

Easiest way I would say to do it is this...
First step go to Image>Canvas Size
Next step enter a width 3x that of your original
For the icon that says Anchor, click on a grid square to the left or right and you'll see that it grows from that co-ordinate.
Click OK!
Now you have enough room for the other two photos
Now open your other two photos, grab your move tool and drag them from one canvas into the new wider canvas. Or copy and paste! Now they are each on their own layer, move around until happy, flatten and save!

Thank you! This is not for a challenge. I have three photos that I need on an legal size landscaped canvas.

If you have a specific canvas size you need, I'd create a new document that size first.
Copy or drag each of the pictures onto a new layer, and scale and/or position as desired -- you can drag guides off the ruler to help you line things up evenly.
When it's all done, save a copy as a flattened TIFF or JPEG for printing. |
