Power tools have microchips in them which is a computer component. Is it me or did a lot of the submissions miss the point????

I haven't checked them all, but there are a lot of power tools which are electrical, but not electronic. |

I'm kinda disappointed with the range of submissions. It was indeed a hard challenge, but I would've thought more people would try to stretch their creativity and put up something more than just a shot of a particular tool. |

Well, the challenge says, "no computerized tools". A lot of the power tools have little circuit boards and micro chips in them....to me, that is computerized wouldn't you say??

Will you please stop biasing the voting. A tool with a simple electric motor and an on/off switch IS NOT COMPUTERIZED!! If the rules/subject was meant to not include electric tools it would have said "no ELECTRIC tools"!! It said no COMPUTERIZED tools. |

Whos is biasing the voting?? Follow the directions and there wont have to be a discussion like this. Why do you think there are rules on here....TO BE FOLLOWED!!! JEESH!!!

LOL, OK I'll try to follow the rules from now on, thanks.
If the "directions" meant that all electric tools (computerized or otherwise) were not to be included, it would have stated that but it didn't. Does that make sense to you? |

Thanks! At least you agree with me....too many power tools. First thing that came to my mind was all manual tools. Be creative...even electric tools have circuitry similar to computer boards.

Pover tools does not have (doesn't need CPU or MCU )chip to operate,is a simple motor and transformer with switches inside...
Not even close to a computer LOL

Stop screaming, we hear you!
Computer means to compute or to calculate or to do mathematical operations, there are no such parts in a Bosch drill or grinder!
Rule stated:Description: Take a picture of a non-computerized tool

they do NOT have "circuitry". they have wires and coils (wires wrapped around magnets), and a switch. Electricity flows through these. that does not make it circuitry in the way that you are using it, such as a microchip. What would a simple drill need a microchip for? Pull a trigger, it drills, let go it stops. the telegraph system would not count the way you are describing it, and I am pretty sure that was not computerized!

Since 1986, all (most) power tool companies have incorporated what is called "embedded circuitry" in their products. Embedded circuitry is a prime part of all computerized objects/tools/whatever. This is not some crap I am making up. I feel this challenge was not thought out well enough by some of the submissions viewed. Creativity is the emphasis here....This is the end of my rant.

My photo is not of anything electric OR electronic, but for the record my own "electric" drill was made before 1986. |
