Hi everyone,
I've finally decided to buy a digital camera and my head is about to explode. I have narrowed everything down to two cameras, the minolta dynex 7D and the Canon EOS rebel XT. I have reviewed only excellent reveiws and praise for these camera.
I have a minolta film camera, and absolutly love it, I thought that by getting a minolta I would understand the camera a bit more, and a plus that I won't have to buy a new lense. The only drawback I suppose is that everything Minolta is discontinued, and should I spend my money on a camera, that in a few year I might not be able to fix, if something goes wrong?
But on the other hand, a canon, is a canon. a great camera. Here my drawback is the money. I can't afford off the bat to spend so much on the body and Lense. I was thinking that maybe I should get it with the simple 18-55 lense, and learn more about how to use it, etc, and then when I can, get the better lense.
I'm in desperate need for advice...Help!!!

Minolta isn't exactly dead. It's been bought by Sony, and Sony has released their first SLR which supports the Minolta A-type bayonet mount - so you can still use your existing Minolta lens, if they are compatible.

Click here to read more about the Sony A100 SLR camera with Minolta mount.

The Rebel XT isn't a bad camera at all - in fact, it's quite a performer. You are right about the available lens for this system - lots of them.

Finally, if on a budget, you can always get the kit lens and start there :)
