Having spent a good few days with the gentleman in question, clearly an exclamation at the fact that he needs to bum a ride on this thread: having seen his kit he can afford to pay! :-)

LOL!

I'm bumming out...yeah as in, "a bummer". Feeling depressed. Nothing to do with booty.

I should add that the only ride I can afford is the freebie I'm getting on this thread. London ain't cheap.

Sorry to hear that, Steve. When you heading back to the US?

Sorry you won't make it, Pawdrix. It would be fun to meet up with another American (it's been a long time).

To get back to the GTG, I'm arriving in London on Friday afternoon, so I can definitely meet up for the morning shoot. I still haven't booked a hotel yet - I completely forgot! I'll do that tonight and can PM someone where I'm staying so you can help me figure out where to meet you all.

My email address is puzzlecat at gmail dot com if anyone wants to contact me for my info, cell nr, whatever.

Woowwwo hooo, it's getting closer!

I'm in the US and that's why I'm bumming...

This is how I looked five minutes after my plane landed at Newark. New York has a profound effect on me.

I was sad that I had to leave and just after my english began to sound near perfect, too. My accent cleared up almost completely. You would have been proud of me.

I was thinking, if we do the walk in the evening, then we'd have to meet early for dinner and rush so we can do the walk while it's still bright out. That is not the ideal situation so, how about we meet for lunch and do the walk after?

Sounds good to me. Then those of us who meet earlier in the day can just find you when it's time.

We're easy - since we are staying with LB we will go along with the majority about the morning. Is that OK with you, Ben?

Did someone suggest evening as well?

As the official "Mr Dumb Guy" this is what I thought was happening for the GTG:

Morning: informal group meeting somewhere to take pictures of something

Lunch: Group meets someplace (Thai restaurant?) to eat, drink, get to know each other and talk shop

Afternoon: Group undertakes walk through the City, taking pictures and generally having a good time.

Evening: Didn't think there was anything happening here but maybe some tea for those who want and then a brief walkies down by the Thames for those river shots at dusk?

So what is happening? :-)

I thought it was:

Morning: informal group walk through the city to Temple Tube

Lunch: Thai place near Temple Tube

Afternoon: Group follows Chiqui's walk from Temple Tube through Holborn area to Holborn Tube.

Evening: drinking for anyone left standing.

But I am very occasionally wrong. It is Chiqui's call!

looking forward to it whatever!

We could meet up at Liverpool St Station and walk past the NatWest Tower (now Tower 42), the Gherkin, maybe the Monument, the Lloyds building, Bank of England, Mansion House, St Pauls, and up to Holborn. On a quick walk, that route will take 30-40 minutes. On a (r)ambling shoot, maybe 1.5 to 2 hours?

This would seem to be the AM activity suggestion. Meeting at Liverpool st. (a little more precise location?) would have to be 2 hours+ prior to ETA at Temple Tube.

I just might make it...

I had suggested eveining myself but now I see it's just not as good an idea as I thought. I have 12 people coming for sure and three maybes (Inma, Alex and Bod). I am going to go ahead and make a reservation for 15. Will post updates.

Hi Chiqui and everybody: it's a pity, but Inma and me finally can't go. We're very sad, because we were very happy of meeting you all, but we have tried to do it too late, and prices are out of our budget.
Have fun and make many photographs.

I have booked us at Thai Square on The Strand, the address is

148 The Strand
London, WC2R 1JA

here is a map (the closest tube station is Temple)

We will be ordering from a set menu wichi costs £8.95 and includes 1 starter, 1 main and coffee or tea. Seafood dishes will be £1 extra. I have looked at the menue and it's pretty extensive for a set menu. Those of you who want to order a la carte can do so but make sure they waiter/waitress knows till will be a separate bill to avoid confusion.

Please be there at 12:45 PM, our booking is for 1PM and they will not hold the table. I will be posting my phone number closer to the time in case anyone needs to get a hold of me or gets lots. I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

sounds good, June. Many many thanks for arranging this. See you on the 19th!

Free Study for August - and a 720px one, at that. Should be good for the GTG.

Do the early birds now have a plan for August 19th? Are we in another part of the city or on the other side of the Thames shooting the Globe Theatre? At the risk of sounding promiscuous, I am easy either way :-)

Thanks to June for all of her work as well: this should be good.

No problem guys, I have more time than I know what to do with! As for an early meeting, Manic can go if he wants but I am not really a morning person :P I am looking forward to this.
