I am new to DPChallenge (and photography) and don't want to start off on the wrong foot here. =)
The topic for Past reads:
"Photograph things that give a sense of times gone by."
How open are Topics for interpretation? The reason I ask is because I read that two different ways. Is it frowned upon to explain my interpretation of the title and why the shot is the way it is? Any inormation/tips/hints regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Addition: Regarding: The topic for Tools.
It reads "Take a picture of a non-computerized tool"
Does this mean literally that the picture can only contain ONE tool?
Thanks.

There will likely be 200 to 300 votes in the "Past" challenge so there are likely to be 200 to 300 interpretations. I'd suggest you meet the challenge in your own interpretation, and be prepared to be told you didn't meet it in other peoples. Be happy with your entry and don't worry if someone says "The challenge clearly states 'Photograph things, not thing... You only have 1 thing... Score = 1"
It's their problem, not yours :)

My best advice is, as ever, to take a close look through say the top ten shots from as many previous challenges as you have time: I'm sure you'll find the answer to your questions there.
Welcome to dpc, and have fun

Thanks, that helps me out so much. Ive been tourmented for the past 2 days about which photo to submit. One shot that I love, but uses my own interpretation of the topic. The other which is great (IMO) also, but uses a more strict interpretation of the topic. Ill post the one I like more, and add the other to my portfolio.

I'll do that and take a further look back. And I always have fun no matter what I do =)
Thanks. |
