I guess my entry was a little bit too much out of the box. I knew the voters were gonna love it, or hate it.
The creepy atmosphere in my entry, together with the fishnet stockings & the accesoiries, made me decide to enter the image. I know the way I interpretted the challenge, is far OOTB, but really, I don't care. Sometimes you have to go with the photo you truly love in your heart (and I do!). Honestly, I think this probably is the best I've ever made, if you look at the story the image tells you, if you look at the atmosphere I've created.

I've had some comments about the hand. I know, the anatomy doesn't really fit ;-) I shot this same photo without a hand, and it wasn't as good (my opinion) as the one with hand. Not a hard decision for me ;)

Like I said in my Holy places challenge, I've made a feet-series from Arti-Elvi in The Hague.
It's for my study, I had to make a coverage of a subject that would fit into a magazine, or an essay. I chose the last one, because I'm not an intuitive photographer. Everything has to be styled and thought about.

I decided to make this essay, translated to English it's called "Feet in the Hague". You can find the series there! 2 feet in the foreground, and a place in The Hague in the background. Same settings for every photo.

Comments are welcome!

I was expecting the same thing as you. They would probably love it or hate it. I love it. Yes, it's out of the box and that doesn't succeed always but this time it does. I can imagine why you love this one so much. It tells a story like I already said in my comment on your submission. For me it kind of reflects the way I live my life now after the death of my parents. Leaving things behind, that's the story this photo is telling me.

Keep going like this and keep following your heart, it's the best way. I'm really proud of you.

I checked out the link and really like the series of photos. Very different and unique. I think my favorite is the one you used for the challenge. Very outside the box, but I did see how it fit with the challenge.

Nice stuff, I particularly like the one:
- with the bear and the fluffy boots
- the one with the pink socks
- the one you submitted (and it is the best I think).

hanneke, beautiful work, I love it all. I really thought your challenge entry stood (hehe) out in Holy Places as well. OOTB is a good thing! ;) You ROCK girl!

I love the first one. The outward rolling of the foot is often associated with insecurity, uncertainty and childlike traits and, when juxtaposed with heavy "don't-mess-with-me" boots, is very touching.
Nice work on the whole series :D

I'm sorry, don't know what to say... thank you guys, you rock too :D

I like the photo a lot, maybe not for this challenge so much. I guess the fishnets undermine the potential holiness for me. But as a stand-alone it's great! The whole series is really cool. I have a habit of shooting a picture of my feet in various scenes, so maybe I'm biased ;-)

It's an unusual image for the theme: Holy Places. It stood out as being the only one with a human element and grave art. There were other grave stones and statues. But yours had human. The legs are clearly provocative, net stockings, implying sexy. The handbag is stylish, patent leather, following on the same sexy theme. The implication might be victory rather than pathos. You might have entered it in DPC Cinema as: Dead Partner's Corporation or something. The Holy Place in the photo as the merest backdrop to Hollywood Theatre.
