It's actually not physically possible. The mirror that redirects light up to the viewfinder also blocks light from the sensor. Were the mirror not there, the shutter would also have to be opened to expose the sensor.
The SLR design has this "disadvantage" but the beauty of it is that what you see through the viewfinder is precisely what the sensor will see, and the optical viewfinder is highly superior to an LCD. Once you get used to it, you will not too much miss composing on the LCD.

Should have bought an Olympus E-330.
It's only possible to have a live LCD preview on that SLR.

So far.

hehe.

To be honest though, every camera in that bracket is very comparable with another. The E-330 is capable of putting out just as great an image as the XT in almost every area. Noise at high ISOs being perhaps the only major disadvantage, and that's something that is debateable as being a disadvantage depending on what kind of photographer you are.

Anyway, personal taste and everything, you go with the camera you like, but none are any more "worse" than the others at the XT level.

Snowy days are so nice for staying inside and reading the manual. ;-)

At this time Olympus doesn't have the accessory options that Canon does.

I've heard that Sigma is going to start making more stuff for Olympus, but I don't know if that's true or not.

Snowy days can be fun for taking shots outside. It's just hard on the battery.

first thing to do is go online and read about basic photography with an SLR.

second thing is to read the manual.

then, and only then, should you go take pictures.

good luck, have fun! if you have more questions, that's what we're here for.

DAHH!!

Why isn't the Olympus as good as the 350D ?

The Olympus lets you frame your shots with the LCD for starters :)

bazz.

People that buy their stuff normally do their research first, otherwise they just go out and buy a simple point and shoot!

Seriously though, You will get used to it VERY quickly. I thought it would be hard to adjust to after having my old Fuji 5000z for so long but almost instantly forgot about the LCD viewfinder - so much so, that when I do yuse the Fuji now, I switch it to traditional viewfinder, not LCD!

First thing is that its much harder to get here and the other thing is that the cannon has much more fitting accessorys and stuff.. I don't know the olympus well.. it was mostly just a harmless joke :)
