I just bought the 30d yesterday and I'm looking into telephoto lenses. From what I've been reading on here the Sigma 70-300mm APO DG is a great deal. But I can't find it anywhere online to find out how much it costs. I looked on B&H and Adorama and they both only have the 55-200mm Sigma. Am I missing something? Is the 70-300mm Sigma a good choice? Thanks.

I like my Sigma. I think it was well worth the money. Looking into bigger and better things later though.

You can also find plenty of used lenses over at //www.fredmiranda.com in the buy and sell section.

This lens is a must have:50mm

Well not to hijack your thread but instead of starting a new one. Can someone help me decide:

This one

or

This one

I am looking for a good walk around lens. The price difference between these two is $280

What is the main difference and is one actually better than the other?

I would probably trying comparison shopping at pricegrabber.com. I usually find my deals there.

I would get this one Rex for walking around Lens

New Egg

Their prices are hard to beat and if they are out of stock on something there are places like JR.com that carry the same items and will price match NewEgg. That is where I got my 2 lenses for my 30D

You probably won't find the Sigma here, but this is a GREAT place for used equipment:

Thanks for the replies. I just went to Ritz and they have a Sigma 28-90mm 3.5-5.6 macro and the 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro kit for $259. Is this a good deal? It didn't say APO anywhere on it, is this important? I already have the Canon 18-55mm kit lens so is it worth getting the 28-90mm too? They also had the Canon 75-300mm, is this a good lens?

O.k I just found the 70-300mm that I saw in the kit. It's a cheapo $139 piece. I'll just try to find the APO one somewhere local.

Get this one instead

It has more range than either of the other two, is sharper than the cheaper canon and much more range and less cost than the canon 17-85. You don't really need IS under 100 or 150mm - you;d be better off to buy a wider aperture lens, and if that still isn't enough then get IS on a faster lens - for only $1200

teh non-apo version is not worth getting, you want /nee the APO version. Check on ebay - i bought mine there for $40 under b&h prices last year and sold it used for for $147 about 4 months back. But then again, last year that lens was going for $220 (non-DG - the DG is the newer APO version)

I bought a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO IF for Nikon at Sigma4Less.com. It's a fun lens, especially in low light situations.
