Hello,
How can i accomplish a real good Depth Of Field effect with the canon A510?
tips? tricks? ;-)

Well, you'd have to shoot wide open at the long end of the zoom, and try to maximise the subject-background distance.
I was able to get pretty shallow DOF with my G5, but with my SD400 it's not so easy (small, slow lens) |

Use the Aperture Priority (Av) mode and set it for 2.8, or lower if it goes lower (in number). I don't think it does though. My A70 only goes to 2.8. Or use M mode and do the same things except you will have to manually set the shutter speed as well. |

at the end of the zoom?
but what if i want to zoom on a subject that is at the middle? like in Tiberius's example?

Manual focus and many, many tries (I think I took around 30 shots to get this one)

That example isn't an issue of zoom, but of focus. What are you doing is FOCUSING on the middle coin, regardless of what your zoom is at. |
