I am currently selling my Canon G2. I am talking to a few interested buyers right now but would be happy to work something out with you if you are interested.

The G2 was my first digital camera and has been a great learning tool. Most of the shots I have entered here were taken with it. I'm sure others would agree that it is a fantastic camera.

I posted a thread about selling the G2 a few weeks ago. Take a look:

Gottcha.

Have you ever thought about hitting up your parents for a loan? I did that all the time when I was younger. Other than that, while you're saving up, spend that time researching your options and figure out what you really need.

David -

Figure out what you really want from a camera and use the reviews on dpreview.com to find something that matches your price range and features that you most want. You can also look at the Camera pages here to get an idea of the range of images that DPC users have taken with their cams.

We can tell you how great our cameras are for our own needs, but ultimately you have to be satisfied with your camera. Don't go for something just because everyone else thinks it's the best, go for something that fits your needs.

David,

There are just so many advantages for a digital camera, and once you get that plain SLR, you will probably wish for the digital. Just find the roads, and take the right one.

David,

As a fellow member of the age of MINORITY (I'm 17), and used to having not a penny, not to mention the $200-$300 necessary to buy a digital camera, I'm going to give you some advice! The most profitable thing I ever did (in terms of photography) was spend some time messing around with an old SLR, one that I actually I still use. I used an Olympus OM-1 and OM-2 camera that I got from my dad. They are old, they are not cool, they are not digital, but they take pictures, and not bad ones, and they will teach the same amount that you can learn on a digital. Just go out, look at garage sales, thrift stores, flea markets, anywhere, and find an old SLR and play around with it for awhile, you can get the film developed at Future Shop onto a CD and play with the pictures digitally. If you don't think that they'll take worthwhile pictures, have a look at my portfolio, I've taken pictures with my SLR that are there. Don't worry about getting the best camera right now, just concentrate on the photography. Second, talk to your parents about getting a camera for your birthday or christmas or for BOTH! Then you can work out a plan from there! This might be easier if you have some work to show after using an old SLR for awhile! Thats all I got! You've got some talent buddy, just keep shooting. If ya got any questions, private message me to your hearts desire.

Lee
P.S. - Artists don't start on walls, they start on paper, with pencils, then to canvess with paint, then perhaps to walls. You can't just start at the top! The same is true with photography.

Check out this site. They have complete reviews, specifications and sample photos from most all digital camera models.

When I was 18 I was working full time, but If you are student and work minimum wage part time job somewhere you can still buy a cam 300-400 $ at best buy and pay 30 $ a month for 12 months!

Nothing is free, I guess!

David,

Do not fear death, rather the inadequate camera. (Odd that you would know Berthold Brecht, by the way, when most Theatre majors don't!)

I have an idea: get a friend who has a camera to join DPC, then go shoot together and borrow his or her camera a lot!

David, offer to mow peoples yards for them. The only reason I have my two cameras is because I have mowed yards with my Dad. It's good money if you charge a reasonable rate.
