if you are lucky enough to live in a place where there is a large Hindu population, the festival Diwali will also give you an annual opprtunity to take great firework shots
Leicester, UK is one of those places
and I suppose London too
and of course anywhere in India.
and dont forgot the Chinese New year, Chinatown in Manchester, and Liverpool, UK are two places for this |

Amazing photos everbody! I hadn't really planned on getting any good fireworks shots but I went up above Seattle to photograph the Independance Day Space needle decor and saw a barge full of fireworks making its way across Elliott Bay, so I hung out for another two hours. I overheard a man giving advice on photgraphing fireworks, simply, f8, 8 seconds. These are my favorites.

I had my camera packed and ready to shoot last night. I didn't take pictures though, that's a long story. So for a second close your eyes and I will send you mental pictures of the fireworks I witnessed last night... Pretty cool eh? Nice photos everybody:)

I ended up shooting mostly handheld shots last night,
and will have the chance to do some more tonight (after the baseball game).
I haven't had time to do any real editing, so
these are just re-sized to 50% of the original,
but have no cropping or adjustments of any kind.

Just one shot I took off a boat while in Chicago a few weeks ago.
And who says you need to have something stable to shoot long exposures from? = )

Great job wingy, one of the few examples of when camera shake is good thing. Yours is hard to follow but here's my attempt. I cheated and added some text though...

wOw good shots everyone! I'm a little embarrassed to even post mine.
I mostly got horrible shots of fountains and sparklers... here's one of the better ones.
by the time i got back up to my lanai to try and get some aerials, it was over. I did manage to get one that looks like some kind of explosion tho...
