I just finished a few shots for a client and I have 2 versions of the same photo that I can't decide which to send to the printer for a poster for the clients wall.
I am close to a decision but, in true DP Challenge tradition, I thought I would put it too a vote :-D
Which one do you like better?
Version 1
OR
Version 2

My opinion is version #1.
#2 seem a little too harsh for my taste.
Nice shot though!

I would choose number 2.
why:
The tree seems to come out better, and the sunflare isn't that bright.
Also the path is better.

Definitely #1. Much more depth and definition. |

I like the first one better, but in both of them I think the flare is acting against, instead of adding something more. But I guess, you think otherwise. |

I agree that without the lens flare, the photo has an even and subdued tone.
I think both ways work depending on your flavor.
The reason I played with the flare was because of the sun streaks being created through the tree and I wanted to show the connection to the flare.
There was also some fog/heavy moisture burning off in the recessed parts of the landscape I wished I could work with some more. I think with some gradients and careful dodges and burns I could really make this landscape even moodier.

Number 1. I feel the dark sky holds the eye from wandering to the right and out of the picture.

I like the first one better for some reason, but I think technically the second might be the better picture. The details are clearer. |
