Well, my first challenge is over and done with, and I'm reasonably happy. I finished 187th with an average score of 4.794, which is certainly nothing to brag about. However, even though the shot was too grainy and not as bright as I wanted, I'm still happy. It's been a great learning experience, and I'm confident I'll do better in future challenges. But the main thing I'm happy about is that my shot still turned out reasonably close to how I envisioned it. I originally shot a wine glass with a laser coming up from underneath it, but I just couldn't make it bright enough to see any detail of the glass. I ended up shooting a (much thicker) vase, and I like the way the rim turned out. My score was fair, although I don't necessarily think I deserved the 1's and 2's (of course the blue ribbon winner had a couple of those too, so no worries). Bottom line: I had a vision of the shot, and I kept at it until I got as close as I could. Just watch out for my next challenges, though--I'm gunning for blue, and I'm pretty determined! :o)
Take care,
-Don
