I have a Canon Digital Rebel, I'm wondering if the Nikon Fisheye lense will work with my camera.
Now question 2. What would be a good lense for shooting sporting events that has a good zoom, and for under $1,000? |

Which Nikon fish are you speaking of? if you're referring to the 10.5mm, prolly the closest thing is the Peleng 8mm. It will, however, leave dark corners.
The Canon and Sigma 15mm fisheyes are not so "fishy" on a 1.6-drop cam, but in fact I found the Canon to be very versatile.
BTW, as far as a telezoom, a 70-200 would be a nice option, if it will give the reach you need. I'd strongly recommend the Canon 70-200/2.8, which new is over your $1k budget by a little bit. Here is one in nearly new condition for $959 from a very reputable dealer. Shooting sports, you're likely to be shooting wide open, or nearly so, and the Canon will be sharper than the Sigma at f/2.8. See here.

Interesting results you linked to.
Photodo tests show the Sigma is sharper, (marginally), at 200mm until f8.0. So wide open you'd be better off with the Sigma.
That in itself shows the only problem with the Sigmas is the with quality control. Each sample can vary to a fair degree.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II for everyday use. Every Canon owner probably has one.

how is that a fish eye lens? I'm wanting something with a great fish eye effect to it. Sorry I have to keep repeating that, I'm just still not getting the results I was hoping for. |

The Peleng 8mm or the Sigma 8mm are about as fishy as they come.
8mm Peleng samples from PBase
8mm Sigma samples from PBase
The Peleng can be had for about $200
The Sigma is about $600
As for question #2 the answer is "It depends." For outdoor sports , a 70-200 f2.8 zoom would be a good choice. For indoor sports, you may want something faster than f2.8, which means primes.

My Peleng 8mm just got here. It's a pain to shoot with since I'm such a novice, I've got to spend some time to get used to setting everything up manually. There are no eletronics in the lens, it's purely mechanics and glass.
I cloned out the vignetted corners, resized, saved for web.
I'm looking forward to shooting lots and lots of stuff with this lil guy. |
