I know I ask for help a lot, but I am a newbie at photography. These windows in the photos are too bright, they mess it up for me. Can anyone help me fix them and tell me what they did?

I changed your photo to a link. Please help keep the forums dial up friendly by posting links or clickable thumbnail sized images. Thanks. For a tutorial on how to do that, please check out the LEARN section of DPC. |

You can use the polygonal lasso tool to select the windows and darken with levels, curves, etc.

Or can also selected them as highlights, by Ctrl-Alt-~ and then manipulate them. Once selected, can copy, new, paste into a new layer, make changes (rest of image will be transparant) and the select again, copy and paste into base layer and adjust opacity if needed. (or somethin like that anyway...) |

How about trying opening the shot a couple of times with different exposures (if you have a raw file...or having a couple of layers).
Set one layer/exposure for the darkness. Then another for the windows.
Then use the eraser button to work the two layers together, so the different exposures mix together into one image.
