I have a request to do a shoot for a businessman (a friend), so i would like to know what kinda images is suitable ala corporate portraits style.

if you shoot from below - you give the subject a sense of power. ( also you hide the bald spot !! ) plain background too. |

Talk to him/her and see what they have in mind. Corporate portraiture can run from the classic headshot with a nondescript background to an "environmental portrait" of the executive in his/her office environment. It depsnds on the intended use for the image.
You should interview the person to get a feel for wo they perceive themselves to be, what image they want to project, and then strive to carry out the portrait to convey that message strongly.

Google's image search brings up many, many pages of various styles of business portraits when searched with 'CEO portrait' or 'executive portrait'.
At least a few of them should give you some ideas to start from.

They quite often involve the person and some aspect of their business. E.g. a CEO of a bakery chain might have bread in the background, or if they have a factory, maybe something from that in the BG. As already said, ask what they want. |
