Here's a real amateur question:

How do you guys create those nice borders?

I use Photoshop 7.0, and for the last two challenges I've made mine 'manually' by overcropping the image, heh.

The way I do it is by going into Canvas Size and actually adding like 60 pixels to each site... more or less depending on what you are after.

Example:

1. Size image to 632 pixels on the long dimension. Sharpen as needed.

2. In the color picker on the toolbar pick white and (in this case) a middle blue. Set white as the background color.

3. Go to "Image/Size/Canvas Size" and click on the central square of 9. Type 2 pixels for the value in both the horizontal and vertical fields. Hit OK.

4. Invert the colors in the color picker so blue is the background color. Repeat above steps with "6 pixels" as the values.

You now have a 640-pixel wide image with 4 pixels of border in 2 different colors all the way around it. Save for web and you're done.
