This weekend I won two blue ribbons for photography. There were 6 categories and I entered all 6 and won 2 of them.
What is awesome is that it was from comments on DPC that lead me to fix one of the entries and it won!
This was for the Animals category. Here is the original:
The advice was to position the cardinal more to one of the corners rather than the center. I did that and liked it even better with a tighter crop. The winning entry:
The other ribbon entry I am going to wait and enter here for the Best of 2005 challenge in 2006.
Hey, I know its only a county fair but the prize money will pay for my membership to this site! It also proves that this site can work for you if you listen to the comments with an open mind. |

Hey man, congratulations, that's awesome. DPC's helped me improve a lot, too. It's great that you've gotten such tangible results! |

Great image of the cardinal following one of the most important rule in photography which also happens to be one of the current challenges :) |

Congrats :)
Entering print competitions is a lot of fun. I finished 2nd place in a local 'art' competition a few weeks ago with this:
I matted and framed a 16x24 of this. I entered two other prints in the same competition but this is the only one that placed. 2nd place was worth $200. It was an interesting competition, because it wasn't just photography. It was an 'all forms of art' competition...
