Look around. Nearly everything has small details/textures that can look good. Wander round the house/garden/garage taking snapshots of things, look at everything, look at things from odd angles, get up close. When you find something that looks interesting go back and try to make the shot better.
Alternatively, I guess it's spring/summer down there? Go out and find some flowers - it may be a cliche for macro, but flowers look *really* good close up. Try to find an unusual species, something native to the southern hemisphere maybe.
Most importantly, enjoy youself doing it :)

Hope this helps,
Paul

I think the problem is that you are looking with your brain, not your eyes. lol. Open a junk drawer ... I'm sure you'll find a lot of lovely subjects. Walk around your house or outside looking through a straw or a paper towel tube. You'd be surprised what you see when looking at stuff from a different perspective. My problem this week is too many ideas. I'll just take a lot of pictures for my portfolio and pick out the best one.

Your chain link shot is great. Have not seen that one before on any Macro search, so in my opinion it is very original. And excellent & precise use of depth of field / aperture.
