whats the deal with the 20d stuff on amazon for 750? anybody know? i remember a while back somebody talking about getting scammed?

Anyone can post on Amazon. There is less security there then there is on eBay. In fact eBay is a good place to look, if you do your homework and check out the seller's rating and make sure he/she has sold the same type of product you are looking for before.

www.buydig.com is cheaper. $1,308 with the kit lens. Somehow it costs more to get the body only... I've ordered from them before with no problem. Actually, that's where I bought mine.

Lol.. Talking about fishy deals. I got my 300D body + bg-e1 from germany by eBay. Paid 550 (inc. postage) euros for it. The dealer refused to contact me after the deal. I eventually got the package. Checked everything. Not a single speck of dust/marks/fingerprints anywhere, counter started from 73k shots. it says Digital Rebel in the front (US version), but it came with euro electrics.

Oh well. I got it cheap :D

Same price ($1308) for body only at KEH but you can trade your old equipment towards the cost. These guys have always been a treat to work with and give fair value for your goods.

KEH 20D Body Only

Ah no CF either but everything else is there.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT w/ 18-55mm + 512MB + Package

Buy it Now for $999 with 1-Year Canon U.S.A. Limited Warranty. Seems to be from a fairly reputable Power Seller too. There are a few other good deals on eBay for that camera too.

Lol. Gotta love eBay:
512MB Kingston CF = Retail Value: $109.95
no-name brand CF reader = Retail Value: $59.95
Third party battery without any mention of the mAh = Retail Value: $99.95
3pc filter kit of which 2 of them are pretty much useless on digital = Retail Value: $99.95

:D

Most of that crap isn't worth half of what they say it is and if you look elsewhere on eBay you can get some of it individually for less then a quarter of what they say it's worth, but you still are only paying $999 for a brand new 20D.

Except it's a Digital Rebel XT. And don't forget the $30.00 shipping, total $1,029.00... B&H sells the Rebel with kit lens for $890.00...

I got mine from dell last week - grabbed one of them coupons, ended up paying ~1200 (I had to pay tax) and they shipped it immediately after confirming the order with me over the phone, I received it tomorrow afternoon.

Well, they shipped from Ft. Worth to Austin, it could have been there in 4 hrs:-)

looks great.

ps. Ive tried getting it on Amazon... waste of time and nerves. I used Amazon payments and got my money back after the seller backed out and attempted to phish some money out of me via wire transfer to Romania... Please never fall for that scam.

My bad. Never mind. I've been up too long. I did a search for 20D new and that came up. Need to open my eyes.

But don't these scam problems only apply to the Amazon zshop sellers? - As far as I know ordering the stuff from Amazon themselves is fairly reliable.

And fairly expensive for high end.

Amazon prices are not too bad for us Europeans... :-)

Cheaper than any of the high street stores where I live anyway. And that's even with the conversion from Sterling to Euro.

We don't have as much online choice. Most US dealers won't ship to Europe, and if they do we get stung on import duty.

Another European online supplier is Pixmania... The prices look great, but I've read some *very* bad reports about delivery times and customer service.

So, it's either Amazon or Ebay (Hong Kong) .... !

My istDL just came from pixmania. Can't fault them, really. It retails at £550 (body only), i got it for "600 with a 1gb card, a pcmcia card reader and 41 quids worth of energizer 15min aa charger.

Ordered friday 3pm, arrived tuesday (after bank holiday monday) 10am. Everything in the box as described on their website. Only slightly annoying thing was that the manual was in french (pixmania are french, after all) but they did supply me with a download link for the manual in english.

In terms of customer service, I found them to be a little hard to understand. They seemed to be newly arrived from korea or someplace like that (don't get me wrong, i'm the least racist person in the world) and they had a strong accent and some difficulty with the language.

Generally I found them good, I guess. I will be shopping there again. I just noticed yesterday they are doing a 160gb usb drive for £60 or thereabouts...

Hope this helps. M.

Probably Singapore or India, and I'm pretty sure they are not newly arrived (in most cases) You are speaking to them in thier home country through a link.

Well, I suppose they have to keep *some* customers happy, just to stay in business...! Here's a couple of pages I bookmarked where people were having problems with them;

//www.pricerunner.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=668
//www.epinions.com/msg/show_~threads/cat_id_~22/id_~2568/forum_id_~145/pp_~1

Thanks for posting the other side of the story. But knowing my luck with things like this....
