Photos should never be done using photoshop, and this challenge is no exception. If you feel a photo has been done in photoshop, request it for a disqualification so we can check it out!

But, remember, you need to vote as if the picture IS legal until otherwise informed.

Though I didn't enter this last one, one queston bugged me coming in. Can you take a photo or two, grossly moderate and manipulate in PS (illegal by DPC rules), print it out, and then take a photo of the print? Is this a legal submission?

It is not legal if you take a photo of just that print. If however you add other objects etc, and the printout is part of a much bigger image, then the manipulated photo is classed only as a prop within the larger photo.
See tim's "Garbage in garbage out" for a great example.

As far as I am concerned, if the photographer didn't use good photographic technique to achieve the illusion, other than just taking photos of a maniuplated printed graphics, then it'll get a low score from me, at least. I think i see another one which is basically a computer generated graphics, printed out and then with some "real" pieces to place on top in order to avoid being disqualified.

There are a couple like that (I believe) in the Illusions challenge. I hesitate to paint a broad brush in saying that I'd shoot anything down like that. There's one that I think did a very well-thought out, interesting job by using that technique... and another that did an "okay" job with it. I think that used effectively, it can still score very well. |
