I need to find a photographer's vest before next Thursday. Does anyone know where I could get one from a local chain store (ie. Eddie Bauer, J.C. Penneys, etc.).

You might want to try Banana Republic.
Ooo or if you have a "the great outdoors" by you, they're likely to have one.

Doesn't have to be photographers! Go to an army surplus store, hunting and fishing supplies, hiking and trekking stores. I see them everywhere this season (I live in Norwich and it is very country living oriented here). Also the army surplus style is in fashion.
