I love chippies! They are absolutely adorable...even the ones that sneak into my garage and steal deer feed. Here are a few pics from today. This boy was sitting on my deck eating the thistle seed the finches were dropping. He actually let me get within 5 feet of him.

I'd love to show these to my wife, but she'd get mad that it wasn't her getting that close.
Good shots BTW. |

Always love a good chippy shot. I have an entire folder dedicated to these little guys/gals.

Lovely liitle creatures.
I wonder where that photo is of the squirrel down in the bottom left corner. It cracks me up just thinking of it, but I can't remember whose it is. |

I have a couple squirrel shots in my portfolio - not sure if they are the one you're thinking of. I also have a folder for just Chippies now. |

I did not know they were so small. I thought they were about the size of a squirrel. I have never seen one.
They are cute little buggers. Great shots all. |

kosmik - love your shots too. I don't try to handle the though. When I was a kid, I remember catching a wild field mouse and it bit me. My mom took me to the hospital and all they kept talking about was whether or not to give me a bunch of shots against rabies in my stomache! Thank goodness they decided to just watch me for 24-48 hours.

These great shots you gals. I like animals in general, but the chipmunks and the squirrls are always fun to watch. Here are a couple that I've gotten on some of our camping trips where they hang around and get used to people.
This little one just ran around our picnic table, investigating everything. It was taken at a campsite in Oregon.
This one was taken here in Montana.

I've caught field mice before, but I wear gloves when I rummage around fields and forests. I use to catch snakes for my son so used to come across mice occasionally. Chipmunks are very territorial with their own kind, but if one uses one's head, they can usually be handled if they allow it,are used to being around people or their gluttony gets the best of them. Then again some people just have a way with animals. |

No, not one of yours. It was a curious squirrel poking his face into the bottom-left corner in a photo that was basically ground. The squirrels face was slightly out-of-focus. |
