Most comments will tend to be on the positive side as people look for something nice to say, and even constructive criticism sometimes results in an angry PM response (shame!) that discourages that person from leaving critical comments in the future. As a result, sometimes the ONLY comments you'll get are the positive ones even if the photo isn't all that great. We are a diverse group, and SOMEBODY is bound to appreciate any given photo.
The highest and lowest-scoring photos usually get the most comments because those are the shots that provoke the most response (good and bad, respectively). If you get only a few (or no) comments, that's generally a sign of an "Eh, whatever" photo that didn't prompt a reaction, and 4.5-5.5 scores fall into that group. It means the shot is neither great nor horrible, just that there's not much else to say. |
Thank you for your answer to that. I am new to this and didn't know what was going on and it wasn't making any sense. After you telling me that I have a better understanding of how this works. I know my photo wasn't a winner by anymeans, nor was I upset about my socre. I just wanted to nkow if there was any relation to comments and score. Thanks for the help.

has anyone else noticed that with near 300 votes the scores are still bouncing up and down - very strange indeed.
I've got a favourite, so you all can give me ones, i dont care any more lol.
And slippy i'm not giving you a 10until you send me some leftovers - i know EXACTLY what i'm doing lol. |

Thanks Scalvert for putting things into perspective.
I'm very new as well and was also confused by the very wide gap between excellent comments and mediocre scores.
Thought I would score much higher based on the comments recieved. just makes me want to try a little harder... :) |

My too creative comment came from a 13 yr old....I still would like to scream. Does this child even know what being creative means??? Honestly I think this site should be kept for actual photographers not kids looking to get a cheap thrill.

yeah... i think the same 13 yr old girl said mine "looks cool, but fake"
what does a 13 year old know from reality? usually, not much. |
