and i agree w/ totaldis... too many cows and cow related photos... which is not bad in and of itself, but none of them seemed very artistic. as if just taking a quick snap of a cow would be clever enough to get an extra point or two... just my impression, of course. not to say that my own entry wasn't overly obvious... ;)
but there did seem to be far too many that just looked like vacation snapshots... or just plain off subject.
oh well. |

I agree as well.. That's usually the 'last minute factor'. Before the last day of the challenge, there were only like 90 entries... then all of a suddent, it jumped to 200+... that's what all those pictures are.. :(

| When I was voting I had the impression that the bulk of the photos were less creative and technically pleasing than usual. I know I had a tough time of it with my own shot (which is being reflected in comments and my lowest score to date). It's tough to be imaginitive about milk, I guess. |

actually - mine was entered at 10:30 pm tuesday night, and is sitting at 6.5x at the moment...

yeh - i always shoot on the last day, normally after 10 pm and mine are never snapshots, i just work better under pressure.
I'm annoyed though, every time i leave the pc my score crashes. I know this is totally egocentric, but my photo is better than a 5.6 in comparison to whats entered. Erm, what i mean is, i'd hate to see what some of the other photo scores are, since mine has good lighting, original subject and is in focus which is more than i can say for a lot of the photos this challenge. It must be backlash voters because all the comments love it...???
Oh and i was a low 6 at 140some votes to it is really strange to drop so low in 50-60 votes.

My score really dropped a lot over night - 5.6448 when I went to bed and now it's 5.5822.
Sometimes, I wonder if some of the voters think before they vote. One comment on my entry said the photo would have been better if something in the picture had been cloned out. People aren't even voting with basic editing in mind where no cloning is allowed. I've had several comments about this item in my picture - I would have cloned it out under advanced rules but it isn't allowed under basic.
Makes me wonder if these same voters just go ahead and clone anyway on their entries in basic challenges. |

I'm looking forward to seeing the vote breakdown on my entry. 20 extremely positive comments, one slightly negative, lots of high scores (hit the update button way too much). However, there have also been alot of 1's and 2's.
I expect to see an inverted bell curve. Those with a sense of humor love the shot. The others, well, they don't. Not many in the middle.

I seem to be holding pretty steady even though there seems to be alot of views. I don't really know what the amount of people viewing usually tops out at, anybody want to give me a clue on that? Also, do you guys have a way of seeing how many 1,2,3,etc... you're getting before it's all done? Or are you just saying that some people mentioned the score they gave you in their comments?
As for prep time on my shot, I thought about what I wanted to do early on, but I let time slipped by me and I was rushing with not much to work with equipment wise. Since all my negative comments are reflecting this and telling me stuff I knew but couldn't fix given the rush I got myself into, I am well pleased with the comments and not really concerned with the low score. I was mostly concerned that I wasn't going to have enough time to process it through the system to submit it, since I hadn't done that before. I am just tickled pink with myself that I actually got one entered! Yipppppeeee! |

That's what i'm mostly looking forl; Comments! I wish i could get more. This is what helps me learn... to understand how other people see my entry, how they relate to it.
I have 17 comments right now, which is pretty good. I do hope other people will have time to give me more. As for the score, still in the 6.1+... not too bad. I presume my shot is worth about that much.
This is gonna be a low scorer...that's for sure.

It's far from 100% perfect, but you take your score & # votes, then hit the update button, and then infer the avg vote in the time between the two. If someone has adjusted their vote on your picture in the meantime, the inference will not be accurate, but it's close enough for DPC work. |
